Del.icio.us is the most popular and pervasive social bookmarking service on the web. According to Wikipedia it has "more than three million users and more than 100 million bookmarked URLs". The service is designed to store, share and discover web sites.

Google Bookmarks is a completely private service. You don't share your links with others. Its strongest features is that it is fully searchable with Google's unmatched search tools.

Furl is a resource for saving your favorites/bookmarks online. You can also archive web pages, so if they later go offline you will still have access to the information. Furl gives you 5 gigabytes of storage. You can also exlore the sites that others are storing. It is a useful tool for sharing sites with others.

Diigo bills itself as two services in one: "it is a research and collaborative research tool on the one hand, and a knowledge-sharing community and social content sight on the other."  What this means is that Diigo serves as both a social bookmarking tool like Del.icio.us, and also allows you to annotate and highlight content on web pages, so others can see things you consider important and so you can remember yourself things on websites that you found particularly insightful or useful.
